Pavement Milling

Pavement Milling

Pavement milling is a process by which existing pavement is ground to a desired depth and recycled as part of the new surface. This process is also known as cold planning, asphalt milling, or pavement profiling.

Why choose pavement milling?

One of main reasons you would choose to mill your road surface is to recycle the existing material. The milled pavement is used as the aggregate in new pavement thus reducing your raw materials cost, the effect on the environment, and the time it takes to complete your paving project.

Milling is also used to remove imperfections and wear and tear on a roadway to provide a better driving surface and add longevity to a roadway. Pavement milling may also be used to correct issues such as raveling, pavement bleeding, rutting, and shoving/wash boarding.
